The Client Brief
For this project, our client was a homeowner based in Allaleigh, near Blackawton who required a hard reduction of a veteran Ash tree. This Pollard was necessary as the Ash tree had extensive decay at the base.
As the tree is a local veteran, it was important to retain its structure and health, while eliminating risks associated with the decay.
The Challenges
The main challenge we faced in this project was the extensive decay at the base of the Ash tree. This required us to reduce the canopy to minimise the risk of failure and to maintain the large tree safely.
Additionally, the tree’s location presented a logistical challenge for our team, as there was no space or access for a cherry picker which would usually be required for a project of this scale.
Despite the tree’s deteriorating condition, we understood the necessity to leave it as aesthetically pleasing as possible and this was a main concern during the operation.
