The Client
King Edward VI Community College is a secondary school based in Totnes, they have a duty of care to carry out a six monthly safety survey on all the trees within the site to maintain a safe environment for all attendees of the school.
The problem
We worked with the site team ensuring we scheduled tree safety works in to be done when pupils were free from the area.

We care, we tidy, we collect
The majority of tree works around KEVICC’ site are not accessible with a vehicle, this is where our tracked chipper comes in to its own, allowing us to get right to the trees were working on or removing, all brushwood where possible is chipped back into hedgerows, or spread evenly within the copse.
Where possible the logs are cut to a specific length and stacked behind the tree line creating good habitat for wildlife, whilst keeping the cost down for our client making it less labour intensive not having to cart out large amounts of wood.
Working safely around endangered trees
Our teams carried out the tree works safely and effeciently using a tracked cherry picker making the works safer and more effecient.
Part of the safety works involved was next to the main road allowing us to organise temporary traffic lights to ensure we always had a safe working area available and were able to control the traffic when neccessary by liasing with the operative on site assisting us.
The solution
We had to liaise with South Hams District Council by filling out a Tree Works Application and gain consent before carrying out any works.
